◘ FOR USE ON: Should be used only on bare, untreated wood; either sanded, unsanded or rough cut.
◘ SURFACE PREPARATION: Wood must be raw, free of paints and sealers. Remove any existing finishes by sanding sandpaper or paint stripper. If desired, prepare bare wood for staining by sanding in the direction of the grain. Begin with #120 grit sandpaper and progress though #150, #180 and #220 grits. Before staining, remove all sanding dust and dirt with a vacuum, tack cloth, or rag dampened.
◘ PRODUCT PREPARATION & COLOR TESTING: Stir stain thoroughly before staining and occasionally during use to ensure that any settled materials are re-dispersed.
◘ Apply a test sample on a small inconspicuous area before proceeding with the entire job, stain is wood species dependent and color results are dependent on type.
◘ COVERAGE: One gallon treats 350 sq. ft. of smooth wood, 250 sq. ft. of rough wood. WARNING! Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may generate dust of fumes, which can contain lead. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST OR FUMES CAN CAUSE DANGEROUS HEALTH EFFECTS, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN AND PREGNANT WOMEN. Controlling dust or fumes by using protective equipment (e.g. NIOSH-approved) is recommended. For more information about lead exposure call 1-800-424-LEAD.
◘ APPLICATION: Apply one coat of stain liberally with a paint sprayer, foam roller, or foam brush. Allow to penetrate for 5-10 minutes. Then, excess may be removed by wiping with a rag in the direction of the grain. Each wood species will obtain its own darkest shade after wood stain application.Use only when air (ambient) temperature is between 60-90°F (16-32°C) and relative humidity is below 85%. Do not apply outdoors if rain is expected within 24 hours. Stir occasionally during use.
◘ DRYING TIME: Wood may take from 120-240 minutes to dry. Drying wood can be handled without harm. Allow for longer dry times during damp and humid climates.
◘ FINISH PROTECTION: Product is a wood stain and needs a sealer to be protected. It is water-based and will not interact with finishes or sealers.
◘ CLEANUP: Soap and water cleanup is sufficient.
