[1] PREP
- Weatherwood stain products interact with raw wood to create actual weathered wood.
- If your wood was previously stained, you may use a stripper to remove stain/varnish but you will still want to sand before applying our stains.
- With new or previously stained wood, it's a good idea to sand the wood that you're planning on transforming until the wood looks powdery on top, i.e. you cabinets, furniture, floors. That will remove any "saw seal" the wood may have gotten when it was cut by the saw.
|
[2] STAIN
- Next, apply a generous coat of the reactive wood stain of your choice.
- For small projects, use a sponge brush. Larger products can be sprayed on, squeegeed on, or run through a flood system.
- Make sure to drench the wood and then allow it to air dry. Do not wipe the stain back off unless you want a lighter look.
- Refinished furniture pieces may need a second coat of stain to achieve wood species' darkest shade.
